Starting salary £36,715 to £43,840 a year (potential progression on performance once in post to £49,342 a year).
The School of Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Translation Studies. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop this area of the School’s activities and, working in collaboration with colleagues in the Centre for English Language Studies, to establish the University of Birmingham as a major centre for research and postgraduate teaching in Translation Studies. You will hold or be nearing completion of a PhD in an appropriate discipline, have developing excellence in research linked to one of the principal modern languages of the School (French, German, Italian or Spanish) and native or near-native competence in one or more of these languages. You will further have experience of teaching Translation Studies, preferably at postgraduate level, the ability to generate external research income, and a willingness to contribute to the life of the School and College.
